In the Spring of 2011, Corning Credit Union rolled out a string of new commercials with a clear message even a child could understand. That message: “banks are bad and they are not to be toyed with”.  The message seems to have been received, loud and clear. Since airing, the campaign has won a list of awards including Telly, Addy, and a CUNA Diamond award for the creative marketing strategy behind the concept.

Produced by Dusty Buzzard Productions, a Wilmington video production company, the commercial concepts were almost scrapped all together before production even began. “We’ve always heard stories about the difficulty of working with child actors. The idea scared us at first but we believed in the concept and had to take a shot at making it work” said writer/ producer Curtis Thieman. “I’m glad we rolled those dice. We had a great cast and crew,  and we ended up with one of the best commercials that I’ve been a part of.” said Thieman.

The Dusty Buzzard team just finished their second round of commercials with CCU and are surely hoping for more of the same in 2012.
